Welco Community Support
Welco Lumber and our employees have a strong belief in community and supporting charitable organizations. We have actively participated in several community programs including, the United Way Campaign, the Weekend to End Breast Cancer Walk and the Basics for Babies program.

As one of the founding sponsors of the E-Venti Marathon in Richmond, BC; Welco Lumber is very pleased to support this fun style marathon that promotes
“Richmond, not only as a healthy community, but also as a community that supports literacy. Proceeds from the marathon will go towards the purchase of children’s books for Richmond Public Library”.

We have supported the annual United Way Campaign for nearly 20 years through employee payroll deductions. The United Way, for over 75 years has been helping people in the Lower Mainland less fortunate than us. Both corporately and individually, Welco Lumber contributes to this worthy cause to give back to the community. Our most recent recognition has been the "15 years of excellence" award for 15years of consecutive giving at our 100% goal level. Welco is very proud of our staff for their ongoing participation in this worthy cause.
Sincd 2005, by
using team work, games and fun we have raised over $6,000 for
breast cancer research. Our President, Brad Johansen, completed the 60 km End
Breast Cancer Walk under the banner of “Welco Warriors.” We
expect to be bigger and better this year! We would like to thank all
our donors and sponsors for their support in the fight to end breast cancer. If
you would like to sponsor our “Warriors” for the upcoming
Weekend to End Breast Cancer Walk please feel free to contact us.
Christmas
of 2005 we set up teams for the Basics
for Babies program in a race to see which team, Baby Woodward or Baby
Felicity would win. We are proud to say we had boxes and
boxes of non-perishable food and clothing plus cash donated by our staff. The
real winner in this race, of course, was the Basics for Babies program.
Besides these worthy causes, we are also proud to support the following and other charities and associations by means of cash donations.
Temperate Forest Foundation – educating our educators – by providing our school teachers with hands-on experience by means of visits to logging sites and explaining how the industry is run.
Drug & Alcohol Abuse Manual – supporting the printing and distribution of an awareness manual for students, parents and the general populace.
We are pleased to contribute to charities that are being supported by our friends in the industry either by cash donations or by providing items that can be used for fund raising purposes.
